Until pottery is made
knead the soil
The required hardness of the soil varies depending on how the pottery is made.
The clay is kneaded using either a machine as shown in the photo or by hand.
Molding on a potter's wheel
This is how a pottery is made using a traditional kick potter's wheel.
fine molding
The fine parts of the vessel are carved by hand.
glaze
Glaze is applied to the unglazed pottery. Apply wax to areas where you don't want glaze to be applied so that the glaze will be repelled.
Some vessels are coated with wax using a brush.
Honyaki
The glazed vessel is fired in a kiln. Bisque firing before glazing is about 800 degrees, but main firing requires a temperature of over 1200 degrees.
